Patient billing information

Women’s Health Partners serves as Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center’s outpatient clinic. Visits to Women’s Health Partners will result in charges from both the hospital and the doctor.

We understand this can be confusing and have outlined various ways the payment of the services provided to you can be handled. If you have questions about the process, the Women’s Health Partners staff can help.

However, the staff of the Women’s Health Partners cannot answer specific questions about your bill. Questions about your bill should be directed to the entity that sent you the bill. If the bill is from Los Robles Hospital, please call (800) 307-8012. If the bill is from Dr. Fine, please call (805) 497-8638.

The hospital

When Los Robles Hospital bills your insurance company(s) for the services you received at Women’s Health Partners, the bill contains charges for what is called the technical component. This fee includes use of Women’s Health Partners staff, room, equipment, etc., as well as any supplies that were used.

The physician

Each doctor that sees and treats you will bill separately for their services. These charges will be for the professional component and includes only the services that the doctor provided (i.e. examination, medical advice, etc).

The insurance company

The insurance companies know to pay only for one set of services, based on the codes used on the bill sent to them. The insurance company will pay a portion of the service to Los Robles Hospital and a portion to the physician. You and your insurance company will not be billed twice for the same services even though the descriptions of the services may be the same.

If your primary insurance is Medicare

Both Los Robles Hospital and your physician will bill Medicare separately and may send you a courtesy copy of your itemized bill upon request. Medicare will notify you when they have paid their portion of your hospital bill. If you have secondary insurance, the hospital will also send them a bill for their portion and that company will contact you to let you know when and what they paid to the hospital. After payments are received by either your primary and/or secondary insurance, any outstanding balances will be your responsibility.

If your primary insurance is an individual/group ppo

Both Los Robles Hospital and your physician will bill your insurance company separately. You will be responsible for any deductible and/or co-pay amounts. Please note that all HMO patients must have an authorization for their appointment in place before their visit. If you do not have an authorization for a visit/test, your appointment will be cancelled. The Women’s Health Partners staff can help you determine if you have an authorization on file.

If you do not have insurance coverage

Los Robles Hospital requires a payment (either full or partial) by or at the time of your visit. If you are unable to pay, the hospital will work with you to determine if you qualify for some type of assistance or will allow you to set up a payment plan. The hospital financial counselor phone number is (805) 370-4428.

You will be asked to sign a consent form agreeing to these billing practices at the time of your appointment. If you are not willing to consent to these billing practices, please call Women's Health Partners (805) 307-4428 as soon as possible to cancel your appointment.
